Updates and Fox 8!

Friday Barb, Lena, and Summer had some planning for the upcoming 2014 Holiday Home Tour. It's always fun to gather with the girls and put our heads together to gather up all the loose ends.

We ate at our local favorite, Der Bake Oven. After this we made a stop at a local thrift store and Barb found a gem in an old dresser she's going to paint and re-purpose into a buffet table.
We also had a little fun up our sleeves as we raided Summer's house for treasures to make the perfect tablescape. Summer has so many fun things to choose from.

We are so excited and blessed to be asked to appear on Fox 8 this (Saturday) morning to talk about the Holiday Home Tour and the details behind it. Tune in at 8:15 A.M. to catch us live on air! Summer is making a beautiful green arrangement just for this live broadcast. We are thankful to LeeAnn Miller from The Miller Haus B&B for connecting us with this TV station.

There are still tickets available at Rebecca's Bistro, bfearless, Modern Farmhouse, Amish Heartland Tours, and Linley House.

Here is a sneak peek list of the homes on the tour:

-- Lavonne DeBois from Amish Heartland Tours (they will be shuttling us on tour night ... see our FB for the details)
-- Heidi Miller from Dutch Corp
-- Sarah Yoder from Linley House
-- Barb Chalmers from Restoration Details
-- Naomi Mullet from Mullet Cabinet

We are very excited for the tour. It's such an amazing season to join friends and appreciate the differences in decor, all while raising funds to share a blessing with someone deserving. We at The Blessing Design team are still accepting nominations for the design makeover and are excited to narrow down the choices. Send in a nominee today. We can't wait to give away a blessing!

Seeking nominations for a new design makeover!

The Blessing Design Team is seeking nominations for a new design makeover.

We want to find that woman who deserves a hand up, a soft place to land, and a whispered word of encouragement - someone to love on! There are those among us who have the gift of lifting others up with their selfless hands, nary a word of complaint to be heard from their lips. They have a habit of making small the big things in their lives that would bring others to their knees. We seek someone deserving.

We want the names of these ladies, these bringers-of-light to a weary world. We want to shower them with something special - a bright space they can rest in that shuts out the cares of their world and brings them peaceful hours. We want the names of those who would make a meal for someone else when their fridge might be near to empty, and the ones who find the positive light in a dark day. We seek these nominations so we might choose to bless someone. Someone who puts others first, though the season they’re in be their stormiest.

Please contact someone from the Blessing Design team at blessingdesignteam@gmail.com or on our Facebook page. We look forward to sifting and reading through the stories to find our nominee.

What is the Blessing Design Team?

So, what on earth IS the Blessing Design Team?

Well, I'm so glad you asked!

The Blessing Design Team blossomed out of an idea that came to founder Barb Chalmers, owner of the interior design and consulting company Restoration Details. One Sunday morning during church back in 2011, Chalmers was wondering how God could could use her to serve others through her love for making things pretty. She knew there were women in her Holmes County, Ohio community who were going through tough times--loss of a spouse, health difficulties, disabled children, financial burdens--and she wanted to help make a difference in their lives.

Her idea was to encourage those women by making a beautiful space for them to live in, a place where they could refresh their souls and spirits. She shared her idea with others who caught her vision, and, just like that, the Blessing Design Team was born.

Since then, the Blessing Design Team has touched the lives of not only those whose homes have been transformed, but those who have joined the team as well.

To make the mission successful, the team relies on the community to raise funds. One way that happens is through the annual Blessing Designs Christmas Home Tour. This year's tour will take place on Friday, November 21 from 4-9 pm.

This fun, festive holiday event gives you a chance to step into five Holmes County, Ohio homes in the area that have their halls decked out for the holidays. Each will feature food, drinks, and a clever design tip from the team. Some stops will even offer live music! It's a great way to get your holiday inspiration on while being a very real part of the blessing of one individual woman in your community.

Tickets are available now and can be purchased at Rebecca's Bistro, The Linley House, and Bfearless, all in Walnut Creek, Ohio as well as Amish Heartland Tours and Information Kiosk in Berlin, Ohio and Modern Farmhouse in Millersburg, Ohio. Tickets are $25 per person and all proceeds go toward the redesign of the home of a local woman.

Stay tuned for details, and keep an eye here for more information on how YOU can nominate a recipient for this year's Blessing Design Team renovation!
